Inpatient Orders

Please follow the steps listed below when admitting a patient into the hospital from the Emergency Room

1. Find your patient from on the System List Go to UMH folder

  • Go to UMH folder
  • Select UMH Inpatient Units
  • Select UMH Emergency


2. Find your patient on the list, and double click


3. Once inside the chart, select the ED Admit activity tab

4. Within the Admission navigator, providers must update the Problem list, Allergies, History, write an H&P          Note, and document VTE assessment.

5. Once all sections have been updated, go to the Order Rec section.

6. All sections within Order Rec must be complete

7. When the providers click on 4. Order Sets, providers can now place new orders and order sets directly          from the sidebar. The sidebar is updated automatically as you continue, modify and stop orders.

  • Search and select the Order set you wish to use (i.e. General Admission)
  • Select ‘Open Order Set’


8. Select UM Admit Observation and within the Level of Care providers will need to select what type of care          the patient needs. Within the Requested Admitting Department search box and type Emergency Medicine        and press Enter.


9. Complete all sections that has a red stop. These are considered Hard Stops. These sections are required          and must be completed in order to sign this order.


10. Review orders within the sidebar and click Sign & Hold- Will Be Initiated by Receiving Unit.

11. Once completed, exit the patient workspace.
